There is at present in the Education Departsent an officer, called "Supervisor" drawing a salary or £300 - £340 by £30 tri- ennially. This post, I suggest, should be abolished and the pout of Aesistant Director of Education subert.tuted for it. The new post should be in the 3rd class of the Civil Service with a salary of £480 40 by £40 trio nially and should be
filled by Cadet officers.
The Education department is now a
very large one; and, I think, the wirector or Education should have an Ameistant to not for him instead of calling in the Hend· manter of Queen's College an has been done in the past.
In the Treasury there alroady exists the post of Assessor (uzlary £400 - £840 by 240 triennially) and to this poet Cadete have a proferential claim. When Colonel Cherman vacates it, i think a Cadet officer should be appointed, and . would suggest that the title of the post might then be changed to assistant Colonial Treasurer utzi kanonsor of kates, and the officer sub- stantively filling this post sight act for the Colonial Crea-
surer when the latter is on leave.
The secretary or the Canitary Board now draws a salary of 5360 to £420 by £*0 tilonnially. When this pout next falle vacant I think a Cadet officer should be appointed to it on Src class pay (2420 to 2640 by £40 triennially). thin bren cadet would then be avalable to act for the doud of the Lani-
tary Department when the latter is absent. The fanitary Depart sent is larger even than the Education Lepartment, and i have no doubt that the appointment of an Asistant Head would wid considerably to its efficiency.

There are certain other posts, which I have included
in the acheze, to which cadete at the preuont time have no pre- ferentiel claim, viz: the poute or Private Lecretary, Chief Clerk in the Colonial Secretary office, Assistant Barbour Ya#-
ter, Land ufficer, Asistant Land Officer, Crown Bolicitor and Assistant crown Solicitor.
